What an exciting weekend!! This past weekend was the first time we actually took the time to travel the island. We started off by heading towards Waikiki on Saturday to meet up with my husband's ol' high school buddy. He was very kind and welcomed us to that side of the island by taking us on a mini-tour of Waikiki Beach Walk. We stopped and ate some amazing sushi, then we finished up our visit by paddle boarding at Waikiki Beach. I have never gone paddle boarding before and it was a BLAST! The most exciting part for me was seeing several sea turtles swim near me. They were very large sea turtles and had such a majestic presence in the water. (Continue Reading)

Aloha!!! I have moved to the lovely state of Hawaii and I could not be happier!! It has been a very challenging transition getting everything organized and moved, but it is so worth the hassle!! We should be moving into an apartment in the next couple of weeks. I have been thinking about my new life here on the island and what I want to be doing with myself. Yoga is a given here on the island. There are so many studios around here and so many wonderfully inspiring places to practice my yoga. I also want to continue teaching in the local setting and I hope to apply for teaching positions at the local studios in the next couple of months. More currently... (Continued) Well we are starting to get adjusted to our new surroundings. Currently trying to find a place to live and whatnot. Once our stuff arrives and we are a little bit more sane, I plan to continue the process of making art. I may start venturing out to sell more locally, and I'm also looking into permits and what all is involved to sell outside and whatnot. Lots of things to research out here and try to adapt to our new way of life. Next week I plan to stop by and practice at some of the local yoga studios to find one that fits me the best.
I hope you are all enjoying your summer!! I know that we are, despite all the moving madness! I look forward to sharing more with you in a few more weeks. Be sure to absorb as much Vitamin D as you can this summer to keep that smile bright! :D Much love, Lorel Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to meet Judy Curry and attend her free yoga teacher training on Connected Warriors. It was so great to do another teacher training, and it was even better knowing that it was for a great cause. Connected Warriors is an charitable organization that helps offer FREE yoga classes to Veterans and their families. Connected Warriors is working it's way around the country to help provide a place for vets and their families to practice yoga a few times a week. As a military spouse myself, I can see how these services can greatly benefit military families nationwide. The teacher training I attended yesterday was just wonderful. Judy was really kind, knowledgeable and professional. It was so fun and I learned a lot of helpful information that can be applied to my everyday teaching as well. I am looking forward to working with Connected Warriors and hopefully starting up a class in my next location for veterans and their families. If you are a veteran, active duty or retired, and want to attend a yoga class with the Connected Warriors program, please click on this map to find the nearest location. Hey everyone!! I have made several changes on my site to clean it up and get things working properly. I updated my teaching status, added some pictures, and changed tiny details on the layout. Please feel free to leave a comment and tell me what you think!! I would love to hear your input!! What is something you would like to see on my site that isn't already posted? What is your favorite section of the website?? Does it flow easily and keep you interested?? Please share your thoughts! Thank you in advance and have a great weekend!!!
I saw this video online this morning, and I remember seeing it a long time ago. This video is so cute and the routine is now stuck in my head, so I had to share it with you! I hope you have an awesome Friday!!
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
― Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr. I hope that his words will live on for many generations to come! Please read up on some of his well-crafted words that can move mountains. I learned a lot about MLK Jr. in an African American History class I took in college, and it forever changed my perspective. Never forget the real leaders of this country, the few that rose above because they believed in something greater than themselves. -Lorel Today I drew a sketch of a little person trying to find peace in this toxic world that currently surrounds us. The little person was completely overpowered by chemicals and all sorts of imagery coming at him from every direction. I am thinking about turning this doodle into a painting or series. I'm sure it might offend some people or initiate questions/attacks onto me, but I don't really care anymore. I'm an artist. I don't have to filter myself to please the masses. Art is about making an observation, forming an idea from those observations, and turning that into imagery. There is nothing wrong with that, right? Cheers to freedom of speech, as long as we don't mention too much anyway.
I visited the new Dali Museum of Art today, in St.Petersburg, Florida. This has always been one of my favorite places to go to ponder and look for inspiration. I opted not to take the guided tour or audio tour, so that I could just visually absorb what the artist was trying to convey to the viewer. After leaving the state-of-the-art museum, I felt about as big as an ant, which is ironic because it is said that Dali kind of had a phobia of ants. |
