This week I have been extremely under the weather. Contrary to the image showing me getting eaten by a shark, I just contracted some respiratory virus. Being the considerate yogi that I am, I have opted for an at home practice instead of my usual stops. Sometimes it is nice to also try something new after feeling a bit blah all week, so I turned to youtube. I have heard a lot of interesting things about Kundalini yoga classes, but have yet to actually try one. Well, youtube made it happen and I was presently surprised. LOTS of breath work (pranayama) in this video with minimal postures, yet somehow I got very sweaty. Despite the occasional cough here and there, my body tolerated the activity pretty well and helped energize my sickly self. Anyway, I enjoyed it so much that I've decided to share the video with you. Hopefully this practice helps ignite your day. Enjoy!
"You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes a day. Unless you are too busy , then you should sit for an hour. " This morning I recorded some yoga videos on the beach! It was really nice weather and the waves were steadily rolling in the background. I recorded short little yoga basic clips to add to my VIDEO section to my website. Once the videos get edited, they will be up in the site probably by the end of the week. Eventually I will get a 30 minute sequence recorded for you to practice with, but in the meantime... theses little snippets will have to do.
We visited Hawaii Pacific Sport & Spine for my husband's chiropractic appointment. We like to regularly get adjusted, since we are both pretty active people. Sometimes a trip to the chiropractor can transform your entire alignment! Anyway, while we there I was talking with the doctor and I realized that my website still has some unfinished business. I started another tab a few weeks ago and never fully published it to go live on my site. So, this week you will be getting new yoga videos and new content!! Hooray!! Until then... keep on smiling! http://www.spreecast.com/events/free-30-minute-intro-yoga-webcast
Please join in on the fun with me this Friday evening!! I will be walking you through a 30 minute beginner's yoga class to help you unwind from your busy week. This will be a free live webcast from me to all of you, and it will be my first trial run to see how it goes. So, enjoy the rest of your week and I look forward to seeing you all on Friday night!! P.S. *I do not have a sound-proof room in my apartment, so I will apologize in advance for any outside noise that might happen during this event. Also, the event time will start at 7:00pm Eastern Standard Time.* Next week it will be here online for your viewing pleasure! I will be posting a few 'yoga basics' videos to help beginner's become more familiar with the basics of yoga and go over several popular asanas, or postures. I do not have any fancy video editing capabilities, so it will basically just be me and a video camera at some cool location. :) After I post the first couple of videos, I would love to hear your feedback or take on any requests for demonstrations! Have a great rest of your Sunday, and I will be seeing you online soon! Namaste, Lorel
← First off, I have to tell you about the Green Smoothie I made this morning! I finally received all of my personal belongings from our cross-country move, and one of those items that I was thrilled to unpack was my VITAMIX!!! It has been a long 2 months of me living without my precious blender. Once you get used to drinking Green Smoothies 4-7 days a week, it is not the same without it. So, let me share with you my creative blend of the day:

Aloha! Today I had the pleasure of practicing yoga on the beach! It was a great way to hit my "reset" button, so to speak. There is something about breathing in the fresh sea air, feeling the sea breeze against your skin, and wiping sand off of your body that just brings you back down to Earth. We all get in a routine in some form or another in life, whether it is with your yoga practice, eating habits or daily exercise. Isn't it nice to change things up once in a while? If you haven't tried yoga on the beach, it is actually quite fun and challenging! I feel like MOST physical exercises like yoga, volleyball, running, riding a bicycle, gymnastics, and even walking can be more of a challenge on the beach! So, I decided to write this blog post about yoga on the beach and offer a few helpful tips for the varying elements you might experience on the beach. Personally, I have only practiced yoga on the beach about 6 or 7 times, which doesn't seem like a lot, but during those adventures at the beach I was able to pick up on a few helpful tips. Aloha!!! I have moved to the lovely state of Hawaii and I could not be happier!! It has been a very challenging transition getting everything organized and moved, but it is so worth the hassle!! We should be moving into an apartment in the next couple of weeks. I have been thinking about my new life here on the island and what I want to be doing with myself. Yoga is a given here on the island. There are so many studios around here and so many wonderfully inspiring places to practice my yoga. I also want to continue teaching in the local setting and I hope to apply for teaching positions at the local studios in the next couple of months. More currently... (Continued) |
